Meet Yumi
YU + MI = Yumi
Where Yumi comes from, and why she came to Earth: a 33-second film in five scenes.
- Two little pieces of nothing. Far out in space, countless little pieces drift and tumble. Two of them are YU, shaped like a U, and MI, shaped like an i.
- A perfect angle. They bump, spin and drift apart, again and again — until one day they meet at exactly the right angle. MI slides through YU’s middle, and the two become one: Yumi.
- A planet that shines. Drifting on, Yumi sees a blue planet glowing ahead, full of voices and words she has never heard. She decides to go and learn there: Earth.
- Station 33, the last stop. Every traveller docks at Station 33, a little shop in orbit, before going down. Yumi picks something to wear and a keepsake from Earth, paid for in the energy cookies she earns by learning.
- Down to Earth, to learn. Through the clouds and down to the ground. Now Yumi learns every language she meets — with you. Each word you keep, she keeps too.

Yumi notices the words you keep, reacts as you practise, and helps you return to what is ready for review. She is a companion to your progress, not a chatbot with all the answers.

It reads what you point at.
A menu you cannot order from, or one object in a busy frame — the camera handles both, and differently.
- The line as printed, the name in your languages, and how to say it.
- Prices stay exactly as written, so you can point at the real menu.
- Each dish says how sure it is — reading it and translating it, separately.
